In the Political Process section, a series of short video presentations featuring Dr. James Guy provide an introduction to Canada's political process. James John Guy is a professor of political science and international law at the University College of Cape Breton. He has taught in both Canada and the United States, has written several well received books, and has contributed to the numerous political science journals in North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America. An expert in comparative political science, he offers unique insights into the Canadian political experience.

In the Political Process section, the Main Viewing Window is divided into three smaller windows. The upper left window is where the videos will be seen during playback. The upper right window contains a list of topics which you can scroll up or down by using the scroll bar at the right of the window.
To play back a video, place your cursor on the topic and click. The selected video will be loaded in the video window and begin playing. Click on "Pause" in the Context Sensitive Items to pause the presentation. Click on "Play" to begin playing from the point at which you paused. Click on "Rewind" to return to the beginning of the presentation.
The bottom window contains the textual transcript of the video that has been selected. You may scroll this text up and down by using the scroll bar at the right of the window.
Biographies
The Biography section of Parliament Hill contains photographs and a brief description of the lives of Canada's Prime Ministers and Governors General. You can enter this section by clicking on Biographies on the Home Page. To return to the Home Page, click on Home.
The first screen in the Biographies section presents you with two options: Prime Ministers and Governors General. Clicking on one of these Items takes you into the selected area.
After selecting Prime Ministers, you will see a photograph of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald. To the lower right of the Main Viewing Window you will see triangles pointing left and right. Click on the triangle pointing right to advance to the Prime Minister who followed your current selection. Click on the triangle pointing left to select the Prime Minister who preceded your current selection.
To the left of the Main Viewing Window, three choices will be indicated in the Context Sensitive Items. Clicking on "Pictures" will select photographs of Canada's Prime Ministers for viewing purposes. If you choose "Biographies," you will be presented with a brief biography of the Prime Minister currently selected. Use the scroll bar at the right of the window to scroll the text up or down. Choosing "Back" will take you back one level to the beginning of the Biographies section, where you may choose Governors General.
This same process is repeated in the Governors General section.
To enter this section, click on Documents in the Context Sensitive area of the Home Page. You will be presented with a choice of documents in the Context Sensitive area. Click on an Item to view the document in the Main Viewing Window. To return to the Home Page, click on Home.
Some documents are more than one page long. Use the scroll bar to the right of the window to scroll up or down through the text. Also, due to their length, some of these documents are broken up into more than one part. To view the entire document, click on the green left or right triangles at the bottom right of the window. On the bar at the bottom left of the document, you will see a description of which part you are viewing, eg. "Part 1 of 7".
